​Congratulations to Er Chong Kee Sen (Class of 1987) for receiving the prestigious Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award!

Accomplished engineer committed to growing the profession in Singapore

For his remarkable contributions to the field of engineering in Singapore, Nanyang Technological University is proud to present Er Chong Kee Sen with the Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award.

Er Chong graduated from NTU with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Structural Engineering) degree in 1987. He started work as an engineer and was later promoted to Principal Engineer and is now the Executive Director of Engineers 9000 Pte Ltd, a civil and structural engineering consulting firm.

Over the years, Er Chong has executed various large infrastructure projects including petrochemical, pharmaceutical and power plants, land reclamation projects, as well as ports and near-shore marine structures.

Highly passionate about his chosen field, Er Chong has been a registered Professional Engineer since 1996 and is also an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer. As a board member of the Professional Engineers Board from 2012 to 2016, he helps chair interview panels for the registration of professional engineers.

In addition, Er Chong has been a member of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) since 1992 and was the President of IES from 2014 to 2016. Today, he is a Fellow of IES and remains in the council as the past president and also as the Dean of the IES College of Fellows. During his term as President of IES, he championed various initiatives and programmes to empower the next generation of engineer leaders and to also groom and equip engineers with skills to succeed in the workplace.

Er Chong presently serves in the SCDF Fire Safety Standing Committee and the Audit Inquiry Committee. He was a board member at the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) from 2012 to 2016.

A proud NTU alumnus, Er Chong is a previous recipient of the Nanyang Alumni Service Award for his contributions to the University. He has been serving the NTU Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Alumni Association since 2003 and currently serves as its President. Recently, he assisted in organising the CSE Class of 1987 30th Anniversary Reunion, which raised funds for a NTU endowment fund. As the president, he ensures that he and his committee members work with NTU in various areas, like assisting with student admission interviews and being a member of the NTU B.Eng (Civil) programme advisory committee. In addition, he is a member of the NTU Alumni Council since 2015 and of its Executive Committee since 2016.
